    Hi, first post.
    5000T hard drive upgrade.
I would like to replace the hard drive ideally with an SSD.

Is there a step by step guide or is it just a matter of installing drive and turning on and running a setup?

It's just a matter of replacing drive. Setup is completely automatic. You don't even lose your recording schedule as it's in NVram along with the firmware.

If you want to fit an SSD then you want a decent quality one for it to have a reasonable lifetime. Be aware that the only real advantage of an SSD in a PVR is the absence of noise.

Just install the drive and when you turn it back on it will offer to format the new drive; no other setup needed.

If you don't know how opening the case to access the hard drive can be confusing.

There is a faq as to how to do this. You need a flat blade screwdriver to disengage the retaining clips.
