Bought this Foxsat HDR/GB approximately 10 years ago. it has been working well during this time as the preferred viewer / recorder to the Virgin Media Tivo box. We recently decided to ditch Virgin, disconnected the equipment including the router which the Foxsat was plugged into using the Ethernet cable. The device powers up as normal producing a great picture however after about 20 seconds to 1 minute the picture disappears leaving only the sound running. Your able to scroll through using the led display. Ive rebooted many times but the only difference is that the picture disappears quicker. I checked all the cables and the TV without remedy. Is this likely to be a component issue or does it now require a connection to the router?

Hi welcome to our forum. You don't need to connect a Foxsat-HDR to a router. This could be down to overheating, worth disconnecting the box and taking the lid off and vacuuming out any dust. Check the hard disk fan spins easily and isn't seized.
At that age you may need a new hard drive, check this by disconnecting the hard drive power and data connections and check if the box now works without losing the video, The time shift buffer file may be corrupted, anyone capable of connecting the drive to a Linux booted PC can normally fix this by renaming the file 0.ts to say 0.old to force the box to create a new file.
