    Hi,Peeps,from France,

Good morning, can anybody help me with a problem I have. My TV is wall mounted and the Humax box is concealed in a cuboard.I want to be able to control the box without opening the door. I am told that a magic eye will not work as there isn't any power from the RF conection, there is on a Sky box. So this is my problem, can anybody help?

A nagic eye won't work even with power, a Sky box has internal circuitry that understands the vhf transmission sent back down the coax from the magic eye. There are a number of wireless infra red extenders available (powermids is one). There are also ways of making magic eyes work for instance

I've used a TVlink+ (see link)which is basically the same as the Sky system but has the power supplied from a plug-in adapter. Obviously it depends on a coax connection between where the IR receiver is and the IR 'Blaster' but there's no rerason why that all couldn't be inside the cupboard with just the IR receiver visible.

That is asking for overheating problems.
