You don't have a contract with Humax once your warranty expires. You have statutory consumer rights, which make the retailer the liable party. UK consumer rights are actually better than the EU rights, as it's seven years before all protection expires.

You might like to check the Citizens Advice Bureau's website as they have a lot of good information on consumer rights. Be warned, it's a lot of hassle, and may get you nowhere as you would have to prove it was defective when purchased, or not fit for purpose, or whatever grounds you claim under.

I'm not a lawyer, just telling you my understanding.

We are on our third DTRT100. The first had a USB port problem, the second had badly corrupted recordings and we have just taken delivery of another replacement - which is already showing recording problems. We never had a single problem with our 9300 or my parents' 9200. We bought from Humax Direct and are glad that there is a two year warranty!

Out of curiosity, what was the USB port problem?

Basically, the screen was pink. Everything tried, but Humax accepted fault and replaced the box.

It doesn't sound like a USB problem. The USB ports aren't really in use for any user functions, so that's why I was curious. Good luck with your third box.

Oops, my humble apologies. I meant the HDMI port!

Ah yes. You're not the only one to report problems with HDMI handshaking, though exactly what the fault is, and whether it's attributable to YouView or the TV or both, is not clear to me.

What problems are you experiencing with box no. 3?

I went through every conceivable check with the HDMI problem (own, Humax, YouView and Panasonic), but they all pointed back to the box. The problem with box 3 is break up and freezing of some parts of recordings, as experienced in the last box. Again, no problems with the signal (we often watch a programme whilst it is recording), so presumably a hard drive issue.

Sounds like you may soon be on Box No. 4.
