    Hi

I'm not sure if there is an answer to this.

I had a HDR-FOX-T2 with an intermittent fault. Before it was exchanged under warranty I ftp'd the recorded media files on to my laptop. Now I have the new box I have ftp'd them back on to the new hard disk drive.

They appear on the Media list on the box but when I press play it states the files are encrypted. How can I play the files without getting this encrypted message?

I thought I was being organised!

    Thanks

    Alan

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you cannot remove the encryption at this stage; it can only be done on the box where the recording was made.

You will not be able to play the encrypted on any other machine I am afraid. The encryption key is held in hardware and is unique to each box.

edit: Sorry Martin, our posts crossed.

Thanks chaps even though you are the bearers of bad news. A lesson learnt.
