Did you notice any problems with the channels you could see before you did the retune ?

No satellite suggests faulty LNB or cabling, maybe water getting in and degrading the signal? Perhaps dish has gone out of alignment if it was insecurely fixed. Maybe something blocking the path to the satellite - though that's more likely in spring/summer due to vegetation.

Check the coax cabling at the back of your unit. Verify either two feed cables or one feed and one jumper cable are in correctly and the feed cable ends look good no tarnishing, stray screen, signs of damp etc.

Take the unit to someone with a working set up and try connecting it to their dish. If it sees the satellite get it tuned in then try it again at yours to check signal strength and quality on any channels you can get at your place.

Borrow a working unit and connect it to your dish to see if it works.

Call a local specialist to check your set up.

Buy or borrow a dish alignment meter if you don't have one.

Some missing channels yesterday suggests faulty LNB. No signal sggests loss of horizontally polarised channels, which the freesat transponder one of.

Suggest you try and non-freesat tune, expect to see soem vertically polarised channels.

Thanks for your inputs, I can now report a bit more.
I cannot do an AutoTune as it is consistently looking for a satellite, I can see the strength and quality meters show levels every once in awhile but never stops.

I found by trial and error, that I could do a manual scan, and I have a result. I just leave it in the default mode.
I now have about 91 channels in the 5000 region ???
I have an name for all of them, but only 5001-5007 show any EPG information and they play perfectly, but all the others show no epg or if I click on them do nothing.

Any more thoughts are most welcome.

I think you have found vertically polarised channels. As you can't lock on to the
horizontally polarised freesat transponder thats as far as you can get.
Replace the LNB, I always keep a spare here as they don't last forever.

You did not mention if you just scanned from non-encryped channels when may explain why some will not play.

This could explain it. I can do a manual scan and I get all the channels I mentioned. The epg does not show up on most of them, however if I click on the space where the program would be, it does then show up ! and if I do this for all the non showing channels they then play. But I have channels I have never seen, like some SKY ones !. I think my antenna has a quad lnb set up..I will open the cover and have a look, if so I can move the connections to the spare pair and see what happens. When I try and do an Autotune in just continually looks for a satellite. Does this mean it wants to start on the horizontal ?

Thanks very much for your input.

A freesat tune or a factory reset ONLY looks for the freesat transponder.

A Non-freesat tune, which is what you did, will find all channels it can and number them in the 5000's. If you can access the LNB then it is a cheap self replacement.
Just note the exiswting twist (Skew) and replace with a quad universal. Note the LNB neck size and you will need to replace with the same width.

The channels you have never seen are those who do not pay to be on the freesat EPG.

I moved the cables off of the outer two connections and screwed them onto the inner two connections, however it has made no difference. Does this mean the lnb assembly as a whole is defective ? I had assumed as it is a quad, that there are two spare devices..

I just did another test and that was to go into manual and presed transponder and clicked right to select freq/s and vertical all responded to quality and strength but Horizontal showed nothing. Could this mean the the LNB as a whole is defective ?

I just moved one of the connectors back to the outside and left the second one connected to one of the centre, and now I do not see any horizontal or vertical signal as I press the transponder !

I think I need a new lnb device,,is there a special model for the freesat and humax??
