Not sure why but when looking in the normal menu for films today, not all of them are being picked up in the more specific "movie" genre search. Is it better to look for films in the normal menu or is it a glitch ?

Rarely use it as unreliable, and always has been.

It is dependant on broadcaster annotating the correct genre to the programme description - for example check C5 today/tomorrow, a lot of the films have entertainment or drama annotated as genre, useless if search term is movie.

This is more likely to happen if you have not deleted any channels that you do not watch, also the Humax freeeview HD recorders are far more prone to this at this time of year.

The search function returns up to 400 results. At this time of year there are more films on TV for the week and therefore this limit becomes more obvious.
I've deleted film4+1 (low quality and recording issues) plus some other
low quality (poor picture or poor editing) channels, but this week it has gone above 400 results again.

The search can work better in the evening compared to the morning. This is because the search does not return programmes from earlier in the day and therefore there are not as many results to display.

When more than 400 results are found the sort alphabetical function does not always(!) work as well as it does when all the results found can be displayed.

One year later and the number of films being broadcast for the rest of today and the next 7 days is a total of 1329 on all 9 London multiplexes.
    Breakdown is -
    BBC B T2: 203
    BBC A: 88
    D3&4: 282
    ARQ B: 35
    SDN: 178
    ARQ A: 189
    COM7 T2: 232
    COM8 T2: 0
    L-Lon: 122

Adding 81 films from the 4 local duplicates BBC1, ITV, ITV+1 and ITV HD then the grand total of films is 1410.
