    Hi!
I'm back trying to fix this * Deleting... problem once again after a break for the holidays.

I have tried moving to version 1.01.09 and while the * Deleting... message goes, SO DOES THE SOUND ON MANY OF THE EXISTING RECORDINGS!!! (Same problem or another issue with 1.01.09???)

Moved to the latest custom firmware, and the problem of * Deleting... returns.

Just a thought, but if this problem is fixed by deleting a file or the contents of a directory:
    rm /mnt/hd1/filebglastop.dat

    - could this command not be added to the install procress for the firmware??

Anyway, I guess I am left with having to telnet to the HUMAX box and delete the file manually.

Can someone point me to detailed instructions of what I need to do please to get to the point where I can type in the rm command? - Especially what cables I will need to connect my laptop to the humax box.

    Many thanks!

    Different issue.

A similar idea (adding it to a reset to default settings) has been suggested to Humax.

Is your Humax connected to your home network? If not the easiest way is to temporarily connect it using a standard network cable. If that isn't feasible then you could temporarily connect the Humax and a PC using a crossover network cable and manually set IP addresses.

Let us know how you get on.

    Hi!

No - it isn't connected to our home network and is about 30m from the router. Looks like getting a crossover network cable is the route to go (no pun intended).

I'll look around for instructions on how to connect the PC and Humax box.

    MANY THANKS!

    Jeff

Temporarily move the Humax next to the router to delete the offending file.

Will I need to view any info from the Humax on a TV screen whilst it is connected to the router? - particularly as it has never been connected to a network before.

I will write down all the settings etc. from the Humax in advance anyway.

    Right...

I've connected the crossover network cable and get an Unidentified network.

I have telent client enabled on the laptop and tried running it on the command line, but get the message:
    C:>telnet 192.0.2.100
Connecting to 192.0.2.100...Could not open connection to the host, on port 23:Connection failed

I continue to search for details of exactly how to connect and then telnet to the HUMAX box with a crossover cable.

    Thanks!

    Good.

Connecting to 192.0.2.100...Could not open connection to the host, on port 23:Connection failed

What is the IP address of your notebook? Have you set the IP address of the Humax to 192.0.2.100?

OK - I have got telnet working and have connected to the humax box successfully...
I tried running the rm /mnt/hd1/filebglastop.dat command, but the file is still there. I guess I do not have permission to delete it...is there some step missing?
