    Hi

I have grabbed an assortment of old vhs tapes to my pc. Playing them there is fine using VLC but when I move them over to the 1100s they either do not play at all or they lose sound. I have converted between .avi and .WMV formats (and others) without success. Anybody have a suggestion for a format which works and is commonly implemented?

    Thanks in advance

    ML

Try using 576i mpeg2 video and MP2 audio in a transport stream container (.ts). This is the standard used by SD broadcast digital TV.

Generally changing the container (.avi .WMV) doesn't change the actual video and audio contained.

If you download and install MediaInfo and open your files and then use Treeview to export the text details of what is actually in there and post same, may be able to help more. Batting in the dark without this fundamental info

This may help to understand the difference between digital compression codecs and containers.
