Hi, I have tried to search this forum, but was unable to find an answer.

Is it possible to record two instances of the same channel at the same time, but with different content via the "red button", please?

I would like to be able to use a feature such as this during the olympics.

    Many thanks, John

    Welcome to the Forum

Freeview has limited capacity, and only a couple of the interactive streams will be available during the olymppics, these usually have dedicated channel numbers so you could record 2 of these at any one time.

    Many thanks,

It looks as though this will be more useful than sky.

Agree. They are very easy to record especially now that freeview also includes details about most of the ‘interactive’ programmes in the epg.

Normally the BBC red button is broadcast on channel 301. During the Olympics there will be a broadcast second red channel on 302. The normal red channel (301) will be also broadcast in HD on channel 304. If you do not already have 302 and 304 in your epg they are available now for tuning into, but neither will carry any programmes until the Olympics.

The BBC do provide programme details for the epg. Due to the nature of the channels they are subject to change more than the other channels. Historically the BBC have not included changes at short notice and the interactive channel details have not been maintained for PVRs' accurate recording functionality. After selecting a programme from the epg for recording you will probably need to manually add padding as insurance for overruns.
