I have just bought an HDR 1800T for my elderly father to replace his existing 9150t. The BBC iPlayer app on his Sony TV has stopped working and I thought that upgrading to the HDR 1800T would give him iPlayer back without yet another set top box.
I also hoped that I could program the supplied remote to also turn the TV on and off and control the volume. However on trying to set it up I find that this functionality is only available with the HDR-2000T. I assume the HDR-2000t has a different remote?
Firstly can someone confirm that the remote for the 2000T is different to the 1800t and can be programmed to operate the TV.
Secondly is there a third party remote for the 1800t or 2000t that can be programmed to operate the TV. It needs to be as near identical layout to the supplied remote or it will totally confuse him and i'll have to take more photos and screenshots to type up another instruction sheet.
Finally and unrelated to the above. when I installed the PVR and ran through the setup it did not pick up all the HD channels. In particular BBC1 HD, BBC2 HD ITV1 HD etc. I have run through the setup twice more and it doesn't pick up any more channels (I think he is pointed to the Crystal Palace transmitter)
He previously had problems with the Sony TV not tuning in to the HD channels but this was cured by the installation of an aerial attentuator as the local TV installer said it was getting too much signal. Could the box now be getting too weak a signal to tune?
