Is it possible to use a proxy server to gain access to on demand channels on my foxsat HD PVR outside the UK and if so can somebody explain in simple layman terms how to do it.

I think you'd have to pay for this kind of service.
I can access the "ITV player" from Dublin - did you try that one ?

No there is not, there is no way to set up a proxy on the HDR - however it can be done via a VPN running on a PC with a bit of setup and fixed IP settings on the HDR. About £4 per month.

Yes it's possible. I know about a vpn review site where is a list of best vpn providers. the speed, bandwidth and total services are very good of that vpn providers which are mentioned on the review site. I think this is the best option to you. You can choose any option of vpn service from that list.
To get the list go here: VPN UK
