BBC revamps Red Button serviceThe BBC is revamping its Red Button service for connected TVs. The broadcaster’s Connected Red Button platform will be rebranded as Red Button+ next month, and gain a range of additional features in the process.
The revamp will enable users to access BBC iPlayer via the red button on their remote control, and the amount of live-streamed content on offer from BBC Sport will be increased. Viewers can also browse news stories, video highlights and weather forecasts in a separate window without leaving the channel they are watching.
Red Button+ will be available on TVs from Samsung, Sony, LG, Panasonic, Sharp, Toshiba and more, as well as services from EE, YouView, and Tivo.
