I just wondered what the story is on getting Sky pay channels by using a CAM converter in the Humax's CI slot... can it be done, how much would it cost etc. I'd prefer to get Sky Sports etc this way rather than buying a Sky box because I can't stand the interface and lockouts on those.

Of course I'd lose the ability to do scheduled recordings while in Freesat mode, but with how little I record these days and with the benefit of Raydon's web interface it isn't really an issue.

Afaik you can't get Sky subscription channels at all. It's possible to get a cam that gives you the encrypted but free FTV services (not cheap), notably CH5 HD but you need a working sky box to keep the card alive by leaving it in the Sky box overnight every week or so. Not really worth the hassle.
