My in laws have a 1100s and having now moved in with them whilst we have renovation work done on our own house, I'm using their box for a while.

It's connected to a Panasonic TX-39A300B LCD TV via a hdmi cable. There is no other sound equipment attached.

The engineer who fitted it told them if they want to use one remote similar to syncing your sky remote to turn the TV on and off, they would have to turn the sound up on the TV to Max, and then use the humax remote for volume control and channel changing etc. Which is how it currently stands.

The issue they have and it appears mostly on HD channels, but not exclusive, is that when a programmes sound levels go below a certain level, the audio just cuts out to nothing. It's most notable when the is speech and it's a quiet scene. Someone will be talking and there should be background noise, but it cuts to nothing and then cuts back in again if they speak. This could he up to five to ten seconds and uts incredibly annoying.

I've done a lot of googling and I can't seem to find anyone else with the same issue. Please help, it's driving me bonkers.

In the Humax TV setup menu turn off surround sound in the digital audio out option. Turn down the TV volume, turn up the Humax box volume to max. Adjust the TV volume to a reasonable level. HD and SD channel volume should now be the same. Use the TV volume to adjust up/down.

Does that not lose your surround sound?
