    Hi,

Sorry to post what is probably a straight forward question to many forum members. I have done a search, which returns a lot of stuff!

So can I clarify. Were I to install the custom software/firmware can I then play back SD recordings on my LG Smart TV.

I'm reasonably techy and have a WD NAS on my home network from which I stream stuff.

It seems daft to me that in this day and age neither my Foxsat HDR or Humax Youview box will allow me to watch recorded programs on a TV in another room, via the network.

    TIA

    Jim

The answer depends on how smart you TV actually is.

The files are actually .ts (transport stream) files which, as I understand it, contain the recorded signal from a whole transponder, together with a header indicating the recorded programme.

Suggest you copy a recording to a USB stick and see if the TV can play it, if it can't then I would suggest a small media player (e.g. WD live) together with the custom firmware DLNA server.

    Thanks for your reply.

I'll do a test with a USB stick.

    Regards
