Can't read what it says but could it in fact be Audio description rather than sub-titles?

Audio description is OFF - and is a voice over of the credits etc. This is definitely the words being spoken by those on screen. R-

I have had the same issue this weekend, when we were watching TV after I blamed my wife for doing it! However pressing the Sub button did not remove them, the only way to remove them was to turn off the box and turn on again.

You need to go through the whole sequence (just keep pressing the SUB key) ON>ENGLISH>OFF and then they should go. R-

That is what I did, nothing happened what so ever, which is why I turned off/on the unit which then fixed the issue. There does seem to be rather a lot of glitches in the software still....

And in GENERAL > ON SCREEN DISPLAY > SUBTITLE DISPLAY is marked as OFF? R-

Yep, checked that also, it has only happened the once so not really an issue as long as it doesn't keep happening.

It does seem to come back at random moments - at least it does for me. But, as you say, no great deal really. R-

I'm getting the subs come up of their own accord every time I switch to another HDMI input and back to the Humax's HDMI. Another really frustrating bug.
Subtitles are set to off in the settings.

some TV's will switch on subtitles automatically when Mute is pressed, which is quite useful. Some TV's and AV receivers will mute the sound when inputs are switched to stop the popping noise.
I can only imagine that CEC is involved and trying to be too clever again by sending a signal to activate subtitles because of the muting that happens when switching hdmi inputs.
Just a thought... and if the problem can be replicated then it may be a matter of running through the various TV/AV menu options and switching off CEC if possible.| Sun 13 Nov 2016 2:14:59 #20 |
