My subtitles are well out of sync. with the picture, is there a way to rectify this? thanks.

Reset the box ie unplug and wait few seconds then switch on.

Did the trick on mine.

Does this work for recordings or just live tv?

Recordings....If you watching live on air such as news, sports etc...that's normal ! I know they are a pain!
