As I had a fault on my new FVP 5000T, Humax agreed to supply a replacement. Prior to collection I transferred all the recorded material to my Windows 7 PC using Filezilla FTP. I now wish to transfer those files back to my new FVP 5000T. I've turned on the Samba server on the Humax but cannot see the Download folder on the Humax HDD on my network. Any ideas gratefully received!

All HD content is encrypted with a unique key to each machine, therefore any HD recordings will not be able to be played on your replacement machine.

Others with more knowledge will give more information I am sure.

Have a look at this post
    https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/file-transfer

I presume it is still valid where it states
"If you use ftp to transfer then all recordings remain encrypted."

Have you checked that they are OK by seeing if any of them will play on your PC? If they are not encrypted anymore then they should play fine using VLC or MPCHC.

    Thanks guys

No, they won't play on my PC so I guess that they are encrypted. Nice try but no cigar!

https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/file-transfer details how to archive recordings from the Humax to a PC. I am struggling to get HD files transferred back to the same box.

SD files work when they are copied via USB or FTPed to the download folder. HD ones dont show up after FTPing. They are simply not visible when on a usb stick.

The HD file extension on the PC is .dtcp-ip, do I need to change this?

After archiving around 600gb I now find myself unable to view any of the HD archieves, anyone have the magic answer.

    Shaun.

Just to be sure, which player are you attempting to play them with? If I recall correct windows media player on the home windows 7 versions dosn't play this common file format. You'll need to have attempted to play them in one of the more reliable players e.g. VLC or MPCHC.

    Open one in MediaInfo

    https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo/Download

If it reports no PAT the file is encrypted.
