I have just cancelled sky and want to purchase a non sat pvr and was wondering if this particular model can have the hard drive upgraded .I upgraded the sky hard drive quite easily.

I was looking at the youview version and was wondering if this version is better for me and the family to use .

I did like the menu system as it was very user friendly on sky and am hoping to find a hd freeview box that is similar .

I guess i like the idea of backing up things to a usb pen drive and if it is as simple as it sounds .
Could i drag a few programs to a us drive and watch them on something like a incar dvd player that has usb slot for viewing.
    Thanks for your input

    Welcome to the Forum

    1. Have removed your other post as we need to clarify your requirements.

    2. The HDR 2000T you referred in other post is not a YouView unit, it is a freeview HD PVR. It is available with 500GB and 1TB HDD.

    3. Again you referred to YouView and asked about copying via usb this is not possible on those units.

Hi thanks, im torn between the youview box or the hdr 2000t . Im not sure what is best for me and the family after coming from sky hd .which was 2tb
I did like the ease of the menu system and epg on the sky box and would like something similar .

Do both the youview box and the hdr2000t have dolby digital via the hdmi cable ?
Can the hard drives be upgraded in both boxes , after warranty period .
Will either box have access to amazon instant video ?

Have not used a sky box for years so cannot comment re a comparison.

Both boxes support 5.1 when it is broadcast.

HDD upgrades not sure for the Youview unit, do not remember anyone reporting that they have attempted it, but should be ok on the HDR 2000T.

No access to amazon instant video.

If on demand content/players is an important factor for you the Youview is the option to take as it has all the main players. If not then I would consider the HDR 2000T as it is far superior as a PVR (padding, edit timers, manual timers, manual tuning)

There's a thread in the YouView forum (https://community.youview.com/youview/topics/huawei_hard_drive_upgrade?topic-reply-listsettingspage=1#topic-reply-list) discussing attempts to upgrade the Huawei version. The box was unable to see the additional space following reset. The Humax YouView box might well have the same problem.

Humax have just launched a 2TB version of the DTR T-1010 YouView unit if that is of interest.

Don't forget to register for the 2nd year of warranty.
