    I hope someone can help.

After about half an hour or so viewing (either live or a recording), I get a message on screen "USB device has encountered an error. Remove the USB to prevent system failure".

However, there are no USB devices connected to either USB socket.

Briefly putting the box into standby usually clears the message for a time before it reappears, again after about half an hour.

Any suggestions or is it time for a call to Humax?

It sounds as though there is a fault on the motherboard, however is there any source of conductive dust or condensation that could be causing a loop between the data in and out or the 5v in the USB circuit?

Yes, I thought it must be a hardware problem. It is only one week old, so unlikely to be contamination. I will ring Humax after Christmas.
