I may add a comment to Starshipdown's posts. I live just outside Geneva, Switzerland, and, when my old satellite receiver gave up the ghost, I made a quick purchase of a VAHD-5300S to replace it. It evidently is a special model for Switzerland, to take a Swiss Viacess card so that the encrypted Swiss stations can be seen. I am shaded by a nearby mountain, so the terrestrial digital TV broadcasts do not work well. Evidently, the VAHD-5300S comes with a list of channels which do not include the U.K. channels. It seems that a scann only looks for channels in this list. You can download a list of channels fron various sources, but they have the same problem. The solution is simple: manually add the tansponders on Astra 1N, which are listed on the web on sites sych as LyngSat. Then they work perfrctly. None of this is clearly stated in the manual, and evidently, as Starshipdown noted, the Humax offices don't talk to one another. After you have installed the additional transponders (and rearranged the order, if you want), you can download this channel list to a USB stick, so you can recover it when needed. I assume this is what 'Satman' had done when he ran into the problem earlier, so he had a list on hand. He probably did not load new software. My box has version 1.04, and that is the latest I find on the web.
Not only is Humax's manual incomplete, but they do not provide a program so that you can edit the .xml ccannel list file on your laptop (as far as I know). If anyone knows where to find such a program, I would welcome it.
