I bought a 2000T a few months ago and have had nothing but problems with the RF input.

The reception would be intermittent to the 2000T and my Freeview HD TV using the by-pass, but OK to my TV if I connected directly from the wall socket to the TV.

At first I thought it was the signal strength, so I tried various signal boosters to no avail. I up graded my aerial to a 45 element hi-gain and the installer reported that the signal strength at the wall socket was "excellent"

Through experimentation I found that if I "twiddled" with the RF cable at the 2000T RF input socket reception would be OK for a while, but would cut-off again after an indeterminate time until I "twiddled" with the cable again. I tried several different RF cables (one quite expensive) to see if I could get a better connection to the 2000T, but again, to no avail.

Has anyone else had this problem, or suggestions ...

    Thanking you in advance.

You would appear to have covered all possibilities, time to reject this unit with retailer and get a new one?

Ha, I have the same problem but not as bad.
Mine is just out of warranty but it may have been like it from new. Hardly use it. Only found the fix by chance. It is ok on most channels and I only know there is a prob when I go onto Ch 5. If picture is breaking up, check Signal and Quality is right down bottom of scale. Wiggle aerial about at input to Humax and it goes up to 85/90% away we go again for a few days
Add/edit, I have tried all the fixes etc that Stutz has done

I would guess the belling lee plug is incorrectly fitted to the coax cable.

    Either refit the plug correctly

or replace the lead with a decent pre-made one.

or ideally make your own using WF100 satellite grade coax fitted with f connectors and belling lee adaptors (no soldering required for f connectors).

    Hi Graham,
Appreciate your comments but I have also had a local recommended aerial specialist redo and say my lead/connector is fine.
Also if I put it straight into the TV I can wiggle it about how I want and Ch 5 reception, plus Sig Quality, stays fine. It does not stay stable if I do that into the Humax.
We are convinced the connection, whatever you want to call it, is faulty on my Humax

Have a look at the central connector in the socket, they have a habit of opening up a bit so they don't grip the centre pin, if it's loose a small pinch with a pair of snipe nosed pliers it may fix it. Other than that where the socket is fixed to the motherboard may just need re-soldering. Should be a simple job for a repair man.

Hi it sounds to me, it may be a dry joint inside the unit itself, this is were its not soldered properly or the joint have some how become lose. I would recommend if it is still under guarantee take it back for a replacement.

post 2 - unit is out of warranty. Constant wiggling of the socket may have broken one of the printed circuit tracks.

I had same trouble with an old 9300 model. It turned out to be the connection inside the PVR. Same as the OP, if I 'wiggled' the cable then the signal would be fine.
    Got unit replaced.
