    The Humax SD recorders use a proprietary disk format. You need to use special software to read the disk such as Humaxrw; see http://humaxdisk.wikispaces.com/HumaxRW. There is a risk that trying to read the disk on Windows has damaged the Humax partition table if this is the case then you can use HumaxCheck to fix the problem.

    Humaxrw can also be found here on the Blog download pages

    When you do connect it DO NOT allow Windows (or any other OS) to "initialse the drive"

    Hi all

    Got a chap to clean the required part. It took him no more than 30 mins and all is fine again. But his is an instrument mechanic and had the correct cleaning fluid etc.

    Good news Dave

    I've just this last week had to repeat the cleaning process myself as I was intermittently losing the clock agin in standby, swapped back my 500GB drive which had been corrupted, surface refreshed and reformatted at thesame time.

    It's now playing second fiddle to the Tivo.
