Morning all. Have been reading this forum for a number of years and always found it very helpful.

Encountered first major problem with my Humax Freesat 1010s last night after two and a half years. Have spent the morning searching the web for possible remedies to my problem without any conclusive answers I thought I would post here.

The HDMI output on the 1010s has stopped working since last night, I have a) changed the HDMI lead, b) connected the 1010s to another tv, c) factory reset the box so as recording were not lost d) changed the output from 1010i to 1010p, 720 etc all to no avail.

I would confirm that the 1010s works with a scarf lead so on that basis I feel all is not lost.

I would add that I think the box was recording when the problem started.

Any suggestions would be great fully received.

    Many thanks.

Try pulling the power connector out of the back for about 30 minutes.

Thanks Graham, left power connector out overnight hoping that it would be ok in the morning but has not rectified problem. I will however do it again as you suggest.

Not looking very hopefull. My 1000S lost HDMI out while watching it, a few days ago. Power cycle fixed it, so I put it down to a mains glitch.

Second power disconnect (for 45 minutes) didn't fix it. Under 5 year warranty from Richer Sounds so I think it will be going back.

    Sounds like a good plan

Yes, Graham. Taken into RS this afternoon and they gave me a loan Humax 1000s, set up and no problems with existing HDMI cable which is buried in wall as using a projector for all tv viewing in lounge.........pleased as the thought of possibly re doing the HDMI via ceiling and walls was not a task I was looking forward to again.

Graham, many thanks for your input, much appreciated.

Update. Received a call from RS thiis morning. Humax state mother board is knackered and not repairable, seems odd as the SCART output was still working.

RS offered replacement or credit note at a much lower value than I paid for 1010s 1tb two years and 5 months ago. Offered a 500gb 1100s but managed to negotiate up to 1100s 1tb but have to pay 10% to get 6 year super care which will be approximately £22. Asked cheekily if I could retain old "broken" 1010s as I fancied a home repair (not a techie but if the SCART was still outputting then logic tells me it can't be a big fix, probably wrong) but they said no.

Overall would say I was 99% happy, cheesed off with additional cost bearing in mind I had paid for the 5 year super care cover but then again I will have a brand new unit with 6 year cover.

Must say the 1100s 500gb loan machine they gave me (had to lodge a £100 refundable deposit) has a much more responsive remote than on the 1010s however build quality is very cheap compared to 1010s. Smaller size though is better.
