Hi all,
With regard to custom firmware, Raydons or any other that may be around.
Does it perform any other functionality than allowing files to be transferred around the network?
Any chance of being able to play 'standard' formats any time in the near future?

Lots of things, one of them being when paired with AV2HDR allows you to upload non native video. Example HD Video from my camcorder.
Non Exhaustive list in no particular order
Add non freesat channels to freesat mode and set manual recording timers
Remotely access your box using the internet
Remote Control using a PC, Tablet Smartphone etc. This has favourite channel selection icons and recordeable button macros.
For instance programme the sequence schedule/red to get an instant guide.Customisable epg views, the way favourites ought to work on the box itself
Search the epg using a proper keyboard
Stream the time shift buffer file a few seconds behind real time to a suitable device (eg laptop).

Ah, so there are a few more features then.
As things stand at the moment, I have the HD non-recording model & use my PC for iplayer and downloads.
As far as things go with the freesat channels I've not seen anything that I'd bother to record, quicker to download, plus I get it in a standard format (specifically .avi or .mkv).
My ideal would have been for the box to play the movies and episodes direct off my shared drives, and set up the NAS box to handle the bit torrent stuff.
So it looks like there would be no advantage to me upgrading to a recorder then.
