Not sure which "two Humax boxes" boxes you mean, but you can rename files on a standard HDR Fox T2 using the remote, no custom firmware required ...
The HDR-Fox-T2 and the Foxsat-HDR allow you using the custom firmware add on's, allow you to find and rename any new recording with the New: prefix to remove the prefix without any user intervention.
That is not the same as manually changing either box recording listing.
If you have either box, recommend you check out the CF capability. Be prepared to be be amazed what you can do with either box.
