The HDR 2000T is in development though it is not due to launch just yet.

    A guess then: 2000 = 2TB?

Nope afraid not, the usual 500GB and 1TB.

Any idea as to whether this new unit is likely to be an addition to the range or a replacement for a current model?

I checked all the Argos stores in my region and only one was showing the HDR2000T and they had only one in stock at £179. I reserved it and collected it later. As we expected it was in fact an HDR Fox T2. I used my wife's Nectar card which we have never used for money off before and I was pleasantly surprised to receive £40 off the Humax plus a £10 voucher off my next Argos purchase. All set up this afternoon without a hitch. Just a matter of familiarisation now.

I think I might use the £10 Voucher towards a Humax USB WiFi Dongle. Any advice on the Dongle?

Not too sure about the dongle, home plugs tend to be far more reliable and cost around £20 - £30 for a pair, plug in and forget.

The hdr fox t2 is a brilliant machine, comes alive with the excellent custom firmware. It crossed my mind though that if your receipt shows HDR2000T you could take it back when they eventually hit the shelves and claim you never realised it was a foxT2. Argos have no excuse getting this sort of thing wrong.
I've a sneaky suspicion though that the box you've got will prove to be better.
Well done getting the discounts, a bargain.

PVR's are exempt from their 30 day money back deal, so probably the only way that you could return one, was is if it was faulty.

Not being as described is sufficient to get a refund or exchange regardless of the Argos restriction.

    Interesting responses!

Incidentally I have just checked my Argos till receipt and it describes the item as "114/4697 Humax 500GB Freeview Box". No mention of a model number. Currently the Argos website is still showing the box as "Humax HDR-2000T 500GB Freeview HD Digital TV Recorder 114/4697". On the email from Argos confirming my reservation the unit is described as "Humax HDR-2000T 500GB 114/4697" I have printed off the email and attached it to the receipt. Nowhere on any correspondence is there a reference to HDR-FOX T2.

I shall watch developments as they unfold with great interest.
