Hi I have an old silver 9200 which has developed a clock problem.
When switched off with hand set it display 4 dashes - - - - not the time. of-course this means I miss scheduled recordings. I have remover aerial and done a default reset after formatting the drive, switched it off at mains for 24 hrs and re-done above but to no avail. Software up to date v23 I think it is.
It must be at least 5 years old and never missed a beat especially with the last software, is it time to put it to rest?

    Any ideas ?
    Thanks
    Dave

Just confirm that the clock displays --:-- when in Standby and not ---- as you indicate in your post.

Dave what Biggles is asking is what exactly is displayed, is it

dash dash colon dash dash, or

    just 4 dashes

This FAQ which I should really have linked to explains all:

I had the problem with the --:-- and I did the clean up procedure and it worked perfectly. However I thought I would copy some of the video off the disc while I was at it. But when I connected to a PC nothing happened other than I heard it do the usual connect sounds. I also tried Ubuntu with the same result. No disc shows up. Any thoughts anyone ?

The Humax SD recorders use a proprietary disk format. You need to use special software to read the disk such as Humaxrw; see http://humaxdisk.wikispaces.com/HumaxRW. There is a risk that trying to read the disk on Windows has damaged the Humax partition table if this is the case then you can use HumaxCheck to fix the problem.
