I have a HDR1100s which died suddenly. We heard a pop and the TV screen blanked out. The box seemed hot so I turned it off and tried again next day but no joy. Following advice from people in this forum I consulted a local IT specialist who replaced the heat sink. He checked the box using a component cable and had no problem accessing the box through a component cable although he though it strange that he had to turn on the box, wait while it booted up the hard drive, turn off and then on again before accessing the box.
I have since tried again using a HDMI cable, checked first for condition by connecting to the same TV from a laptop. I also followed the on of on procedure which gave the technician success but still I have a blank screen
The box turns on, the light turns from orange to blue and the disk sounds as if it is moving.Still a blank TV screen.
The TV successfully accesses online content line iPlayer and recorded videos. The Satellite lead works fine on a separate (Sky) box in another room.
Any diagnoses or suggestion of what to try next would be greatly appreciated.
