Is there any sensible way to cancel a series link? (Beyond having to locate an episode of the show in the planner guide - which is the only way I've seen mentioned on the web - which is very slow and cumbersome - and impossible once a series has finished of course!)

Typical - register to post a question having rummaged around for ages - and then find the answer just after posting the question!
For reference - go to Recordings, select Planned and then you can delete it from there.
Logical - but only if you notice the "Planned" section!
Also once a series has finished, the series link should delete itself after 13 weeks if there's no further episodes.
