Cannot connect to Samba or FTP servers

I have FVP 5000T and have enabled both the Samba and FTP servers on the Humax box.

I have enabled Windows Defender through the Firewall. Checked that Network Discovery is On. Checked that various Services have been Started. Checked that SMB 1.0 is On in Windows Features.

Mapped a Network Drive Z: to my Humax (192.168.1.74 in my case) and I can Ping the IP and get a reply. And I can see the Z: drive \Recordings.

My Windows 10 PC cannot access the share on the Humax either with File Explorer or with an FTP Client.

If I try to open \Recordings I get "Z: is not accessible. The specified server cannot perform the requested operation."

Any ideas?

What FTP client are you using and what parameters are you supplying please?

Thanks Martin. You reminded me how to use FileZilla ftp client! I have set the username and password both to admin on the Humax box, so ftp now seems to be working.

Next step is to get the Samba working:
I now get the message "The username or password is incorrect". when connecting from Z: in File Manager. I do not know what these should be on the Humax box.

Continuing to try to connect to Samba:

1. Using the Add A Network Location recognises that 192.168.1.74 is a Samba server but does not allow entry of username and password and does not connect.

2. Mapping a network drive Z: - see attached screenshots. I can map the drive using "Connect using different credentials" and specifying admin and admin for the uname and pwd but it fails.

3.Looking at the permissions in the Properties for the Z: drive shows that Linux group Everyone have Read and Execute permissions.

Any more ideas? Does anyone know anyone that has succeeded in connecting to a Humax FVP 5000T Samba server from Windows 10?

Thanks for that Martin. I don't know that it actually helps but I learned a little more.

I tried connecting to the Samba share with my Android phone - it worked in a few seconds; not what I want to do but confirms that the problem is with Windows.
