I am 76 years old I don!t know what a network switch is
It is a device with a number of network ports that will allow a single ethernet connection to be shared by a number of devices. Literally all you do is plug the switch into the mains; connect the cable from the router to one of the ports on the switch and connect cables from the two Humax boxes to other ports on the switch. Nothing to configure at all.
I would suggest Link to Amazon as a suitable cheap switch.
