There have been several reported significant internet routers down over the last few days.

Oh well. So I have FTP access and web interface. So now to the good stuff. Geet the HD files off and onto the network storage to give others some recording space on the Humax.

So I copied over the HMT file. Ran Foxy. Dropped over the HMT file and . . . . .ERROR - " Not a valid T2 HMT File! "

Is the Foxy utility not suitable for files recorded pre 4.0.8?

Does it not work on Freesat HDR?

I have tried 4 HMT files. All the same error.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Could I e-mail one of the HMT files for someone else to try?

No it doesn't - the encryption of HD files works differently on the HDR. There are two modes of operation of the HDR (more detail in the manual) - freesat mode and non-freesat mode. In freesat mode you get the benefit of the EPG, series recording etc., but HD recordings are encrypted and can only be played back on the same machine. In non-freesat mode you can record HD and it is not encrypted, but you can't schedule recordings etc. Any HD recordings you have previously made in freesat mode will be encrypted and only playable on your HDR I'm afraid.

It's independent of the version of the HDR custom firmware and a limitation of the box itself.

You can copy off SD files no problem and play them on your home network or anywhere else (they are non-encrypted transport stream files)

I must have miss-understood then. I had thought that if I pass the HMT file from the Olympics HD stream through the Foxy utility, that I could copy the HMT file back and then copy off the HD to be played on a PC via VLC or other.

So is there no way of exporting Freesat HD to be played back on a PC?

The encryption of freesat HD recordings is keyed to the HDR machine that made them and I don't think there is anything to decrypt the recordings other than the same machine. The alternative is to record HD in non-freesat mode.

I thought the using the same machine and the copy option it would decrypt as long as the HMT file was amended byt he Foxy utility. No?

You are confusing the Foxsat-hdr with the HDR FOX T2.

So in short. The only way I canplay the Olympics recorded in HD in freesat mode is on the Foxsat-hdr that made the recording?
