So in short. The only way I canplay the Olympics recorded in HD in freesat mode is on the Foxsat-hdr that made the recording?

Correct. You can copy them to a usb drive and replay them from there if you wish but only using the Foxsat that recorded the content.

Yes as Graham says if you want to watch in HD. The only alternative if you just need some kind of backup is to capture the analogue out from the Humax via a video capture card on a computer. Will not be brilliant quality though (certainly not HD).

Shucks! I had hoped the HMT Foxy would cover the Enc flag to allow Export of HD so that the files could be played on PC. I wonder is this on Raydon's to do list?

It is not possible due to differences in the way encryption is handled on the Foxsat and T2.

You have to reboot the box after entering non-freesat

There is another way to record unencrypted HD
[I'll presume you have Raydon's firmware installed and VLC player on your computer]

*Set the Foxsat to the HD channel you want to record
*Open VLC on your computer and play the 0.ts buffer file from the Foxsat.
*Now in VLC select Record from the Playback menu

and you are recording a HD program without encryption in pristine digital quality.

There are a couple of downsides:
You can't change channel or switch off the Foxsat for the duration of the program.

But at least it's another option.

    Now thats lateral thinking!

    I wonder!!!

Does streaming of the file work in a way that can be manipulated like that?

No unfortunately any previously encrypted HD recordings can't be played by VLC via steaming [or another media player]

    The 0.ts buffer isn't encrypted
