i enabled internet sharing as you said plugged in the ethernet and no connection kept showing on humax.

Have you thought about using a WLAN-Dongle instead which you plug into the USB of the Humax?

Do you have a correct cable?
If you plugged your PVR straight into your PC, you would have to use a reversed RJ45 lead. See;

A PC and the Humax PVR are both Network interface controllers.

I am not sure that DHCP works across INTERNET connection sharing.

ok bought the dongle now hust got to find how to do it.

the dongle i got was EDIMAX EW7711USn (it was £8)cos its got the same chipset as the humax one. plugged the dongle in rebooted router put password in humax and its all go. yehhhhhhhhhhhhh
