As I first said it's a dish alignment issue, you will get hundreds of channels from the Astra 2 group of satellites at 28.2E, if you can't get 28.5E then you won't be able to use the box as a Freesat+ box.

Check out some of the other channels from 28.5E. You may find you can get the Vertical channels but not the Horizontal ones. If so lnb skew is likely to be the issue.

Well, it was working perfectly yesterday in Freesat mode until I stupidly carried out the factory reset, (I had not reset the box for the previous couple of years). It seems that the factory reset has pushed me from 28.5 to 28.2 in which case it sounds like I'm scuppered and will have to make do with non-Freesat mode forever.. That'll teach me to play with reset buttons. Thanks a lot for your help anyway.

It continued to work because the epg is also transmitted along with the broadcast data so your epg was continually being refreshed. As I said before eventually you would find problems with channels not being updated following changes. Without a proper signal you can't even run a freesat tune. It's not the reset that is causing your problem it's your dish or coax cabling. The dish may have moved slightly, you may have got water in your coax cables or possibly the lnb is on the way out. You won't get anywhere unless you sort out your signal source.

Ok, I follow you. Seems that the factory reset has identified a signal source issue and has tightened up on my Freesat (28.5E) tuning. What was confusing me was the fact I was still getting a signal from non-Freesat, (access to 404 channels including BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Film 4, etc), but I guess that's coming from a different source.

It sounds like there is a solution to this problem anyway, so thank you for all your help Graham.
