    Hello,

I've been asked to look into getting a Freesat PVR, about 1TB and HD. Having looked at Amazon, the HDR1100S seems to fit the bill at 199. I know this is a humax forum, but wondered if you guys would recommend it or is there something better?

Thank you for your advice guys, I would greatly value it.

Nothing else new is available or is expected for quite a while.
If you are prepared to opt for a refurbished unit (with a 12 month warranty) try Humax Direct. £159

If you are prepared to wait until 2019 then this G3 UHD box will be the future of Freesat.

The 1100S runs the same s/w as the 1000S, which I have had since launch in 2012. After a troubled first two years it is now absolutely stable. The GUI is not perfect, it has a number of really stupid design points, but does exactly what it is designed to do. I had to change the HDD at 4.5 years of constant use, other than that it has been completely reliable. I now have the HDR1000S and 3 x HB1000S.
By all means wait for the G3 boxes in 2019 and then tell us all about the early life problems We can then wait a few years till it beds in

The new box, to be launched in 2019, will allow Freesat to offer the best in ultra-high definition content, and provide users with the latest On Demand services. Using the KreaTV software platform from ARRIS, Freesat leverages the OTT framework for services including Netflix, Amazon, YouTube and many more. The new line-up will feature four feature-packed devices with 500GB, 1TB and 2TB hard drive options for DVR, plus one option without a hard drive.
