Humax FVP 5000T - 4¾ years old - Is this the end ?

"The receiver is not receiving a signal or the signal is too weak"

No pass thru (TV works direct from aerial but not through Humax).

The Remote has become very sluggish (even for a Humax). Red light OK, New batteries have not helped.
Looks OK in a camera - similar brightness to a working TV remote.

Power brick looks OK - 12.2V when lighting a 21W car bulb.

Player works OK and I can play back existing recordings.

If I want the ability to record off air,
    what are my options?

    Have you tried a retune?

No, I've not tried retuning - The Aerial signal is not getting into the PVR-5000T. RF pass thru is not working.

Have you tried switching off the power to the 5000T at the mains for a while and then switching it back on? Not just switching to standby with the remote.

Signal not coming out isn't necessarily the same as signal not getting in. Do you have power saving mode turned off? Did this happen suddenly?

    My error

I moved the FVP-5000T after it became unresponsive to the Remote Control. The Aerial lead fell out and, when re-plugging, I mixed up the RF IN and RF OUT. I only noticed this after I'd lifted the FVP-5000T off its shelf and looked at the labels below the sockets on the back (a coax coupler had been fitted on the RF OUT socket).

Thanks for coming back to us with an explanation. I think we have all made similar mistakes at one time or another and it is always good to understand the cause.

So, that means that the problem is sorted I guess. If so, then excellent.

Yes, Thank you for your support and suggestions.

Remote Control is back to normal.

The original issue was a sudden loss of range and big slowdown of PVT-5000T. A change of batteries did not help - the remote had to be held against the IR window to get any response.

Happily everything came back to normal after the RF lead was plugged into the correct socket.
PVT-5000T is responding to the remote, even if pointing at the ceiling, sideways or even backwards

I’ve noticed that youtube layout has been changed - it’s possible to get to the home button without having to click down through all the suggestions icons

It was while watching youtube that I'd first noticed the problem . The screen has been changed – it takes only 3 clicks to get down to the home button at the bottom, instead of needing to go through all the suggestion icons.
