    New Humax user here.

I like the 5000T and have only one issue. I am on the 1.03.37 firmware.

I have Dolby 5.1 showing on my Arcam processor with optical SPDIF output (with appropriate HD material). However, there is no Dolby 5.1 over HDMI. Shame because I think the HDMI Audio is slightly better. Anyone else having this issue?

    Regards

Hi welcome to our Forum. The 5000T has seperate digital audio out options for S/Pdif and HDMI. You just need to change the setting for HDMI out.

I wish it was that straightforward.

SPDIF and HDMI are both independently set to Dolby Digital.

    Thanks

I will try and find some 5.1 recorded content on my 5000T in 5.1 and try and replicate. My Yamaha AV receiver has on TV display of the source discrete channels.

    Cyclopse,

I had the same problem. It was caused by the HDMI cable. Changing it cleared the problem. I think it was down to the specification of the cables. I have several but I don't know what HDMI version any of them are so it was try one and see.

    David.

I tried a different HDMI cable but the original was Wireworld Silver so high quality. My Arcam AV processor still cannot see Dolby 5.1 over HDMI. Anyone else have this issue?

    Thanks

Are you sure the source content has 5.1. Most HD content is DD2.0.

Yes because I also have the Humax outputting SPDIF digital audio on the SPDIF output. Switch to SPDIF 5.1 digital shows up. Switch to HDMI audio and it changes to DTS Neo 6 because it sees it as a stereo signal.

    Thanks

Double check your hdmi playback settings on your amp.
My Onkyo TX-nr3030 (which isn't currently setup because I have moved) has options to select the output for all the different types of signal input. That is to say, I can choose 2 channels to be processed up to 5.1, 2 to TX etc etc. I cannot remember if there is an option to select for direct playback /no processing but I imagine there is.
