Handset advice

    I have the HDR 1010 and the handset worked OK with the previous TV as it resided on an open air shelf. After buying a new TV, the unit now sits behind a glass door and this has restricted the range of the handset to a point where it does not work from the normal viewing distance, so I have two questions:-

    1) Is there any way of improving the handset beam?
    OR
    2) Does the later HDR 1100, which I believe has a revised beaming system have greater power?

    All my other equipment works fine through the glass

    At the risk of stating the obvious, have you checked the batteries?

    If changing the batteries doesn't help.
