I've had a HB 1000S for about 3 years. It's worked fine, apart from the occasional spontaneous reboot and freezing. But in the last week it has refused to connect to On Demand.

It is plugged straight into the router via LAN cable. I've checked everything and I cannot see any problems - other devices connected the same way work fine.

I've factory reset it, but no dice.

It has the latest firmware and it has a USB external drive attached.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

have you power cycled the router? Have you tried a different network cable?

Thanks. I've tried power cycling but not a different cable, so I'll do that next.

Are the LAN adapters known to fail on these boxes? If so, how good are cheap compatible WiFi dongles? Will that stop me using the USB port for my external drive?

There are 2 USB ports on the HB 1000S.

Great news. I see there's a cheap WiFi dongle available on Amazon. Does anyone have any experience with these?
