    Hi,

we were watching live TV yesterday and the 1000S just powered itself off.

'powersave settings' I hear you cry - but no, although we have that setting enabled we had definitely used the remote within the past hour or so.

A while later we were watching a recording, and within 20 minutes the 1000S powered itself off again, I got an earful from the boss at home, and we look at potential alternatives to the 1000S yet again; but always come back to 'if it only worked as intended this box would be great'

I'm relying on FreeSat/Humax sorting out the current issues (not improvements just the current issues) fully tested in the next release of software and delivered soon, ideally with 40D and Demand5 to boot, otherwise it will be a January full of catching up with the stuff recorded over the festive season, then returning it to dealer for an alternative PVR.

Apologies if this should be a FreeSat community posting, as I don't know where the fault lies with just powering itself off, I'll post there as well just incase.

    Try the following suggestions:
    1. Try changing the remote command set FAQ [Same as Foxsat] (in case of stray infra red).
    2. Factory reset.
    3. What TV and what other kit is connected by HDMI?

Not seen other reports of this (other than at the default shutdown at 3 hours), try and disable it and if it happens again then I think your unit is faulty.

Hi REPASSAC, thanks for the guidance.

    1. / 3. - my A/V kit is very simple - 1000S PVR linked to a Samsumg TV, there are no other remotes and certainly none that were pressed 'accidentally' (and certainly not twice!)

    2. - not without a bit more aggravation from the 1000S, - too many scheduled recordings to put back again.

I will take up your suggestion of turning off idle shutdown, but I wondered if anyone else had experienced this issue.

One suggestion, is the box in a well ventilated location, if not it might simply be overheating. Other than that i'm with Repassac (faulty box) it's not a common issue. On a unrelated test with auto off disabled I have just run my hdr-1000s on for 48hrs.

thanks Graham, it could only be better ventilated if I hung it out the window (and that has been tempting at other times for various other reasons!).
I have no central heating and those not used to that would consider my house chilly, the 1000S sits alone on an Alphason TV stand with open glass shelf of its own with nothing above/under/next to it, the TV is on its own shelf comfortably spaced well above it.

Just for information, yesterday was the first day I can recall where we had no issues at all, it just did as it says on the tin. I nearly raised a new topic for days where the 1000S just worked, I wonder how may bumps that thread would raise ???!!!

I'm seriously considering returning for refund (I've had it nearly a month) and go for the Manhattan 1TB G2 when it is released, but I guess that would feature from the same issues as it is FreeSat/FreeTime that would be the common denominator here.
