HDR 1000S sata controller missing / damaged

hi guys, I have had 2 humax HDR 1000S'over a few years. I changed the hard drive to 6TB. the first time when the drive was full, instead of overwriting old recordings, the sata controller dies. I never realised that this was the point that the first drive did it, til the second pone did the same. Neeedless to say, it won't see any hard drive but it will see USB. I backdated the firmware, factory reset etc, but it still won't see a hard drive. not just this hard drive but even the one that came with it. when I spoke with Humax tech support last time, they said that the sata controller was gone and it was not covered under the warranty (obviously). just wondering before I get another DVR, does anyone know how to reset the BIOS? Just trying all possibilities before it becomes landfill
