I have an issue with the aspect Ratio on my HDR-1000s.
I have been using the box with version 2.02.07 software problem free for at least 2 years.
Just recently, I connected to the internet and then I discovered that my box now refuses to correctly recognise the correct aspect ratio format when watching feeds from a USB device.
Checking the system info showed me that the box had updated itself to version 30 MAR 2016 (3.00.31).
After disconnecting the box from broadband, on the basis that the update had come via the internet, I downloaded and rolled back to the 9 DEC 2015 version (3.00.20). The problem was still present so I downloaded and rolled back to the 19 NOV 2014 version (2.02.07) and the aspect is recognised OK.
Everything is now back to normal... or not.
The next day I was confused as the problem was back and discovered that the box had done an overnight update back to 3.00.31.
How can that be? This was either re-loaded via satellite or the box holds a copy of the update which it downloaded a few days ago and had cached it somewhere.
The next morning, another overnight update.
It looks like this aspect ratio problem exists in both the 3.00.20 and 3.00.31 releases.
My questions are
1. Is there a way that I can override auto updates?
2. If the update is from a Cached file, how can I remove it?
If I physically turn the power off, the update does not happen but this is very inconvenient as some of my recording are scheduled for late evening.
I have many programs recorded and do not want to have to reformat the HDD. I'm not even sure if that would help as I am sure I would need to access the system file area.
Any ideas,
Many thanks
