Why are you having to remove the power ? The update should work from normal standby.

    Update Instructions

    - Power OFF the product by removing the mains lead from the rear, or switching off at the power socket
    - Download the software and save on a USB Pen*
    - Make sure the filename is hdr2000t_upgrade.hdf
    - Insert the USB Pen to the front or rear USB port on the product
    - Power ON the product
    - Immediately press (or continually tap) the channel down button on the front "V"
    - The download should start and the download progress should appear on the TV set; allow 5 minutes for the update to complete.
    - When the update is complete "Download Successful will appear on the TV.
    - Remove USB Pen and press the standby button.

Warning: During the update process DO NOT power off the product.

The instructions at the link I received in an email say to do that. I did try without a couple of times but with no difference.

Now the good news! I finally got the upgrade to take. The problem was mainly my fault . The clue was in my first post. The link I described was to the 1800 firmware... I assumed that it was right and no-one corrected me. A separate link to the 2000 firmware was further down the same note... I was slightly puzzled that Humax had sent me a note about the 1800, but there you go.

Doh! I hate it when that happens (not too often, fortunately!). I'm holding my hands up in case it helps someone else... maybe samkydd had the same problem??

Just for info... the 1800 and 2000 .hdf files are identical apart from their names.

First Humax box I have ever heard of that needs the box to be disconnected from the mains to update the software. I wonder what's different about the HDR2000T. They do need to be in full sby first though, so at a guess the power off is simply to ensure the box is in full sby. It must be quite awkward to power up the box if you have to push in the power connector and immediately press the channel down button.

Going on experience with other Humax boxes after a power down the box will wake up simply to restart the clock and then shut down again. I would let it do this and then try the update process using the front panel power button.

You do not actually have disconnect mains power, you can do it from standby, touch the on button and immediately touch the channel down and keep touching until update message appears.

However I and others found this to be a bit hit and miss.

Once I got the right file it worked straight away... and without playing with the power. Just pressed the button to put it in standby, inserted the stick, power button and V and away she went... the embarrassment of getting the wrong file to begin with is the only remaining problem...

Should work whatever way you have the box connected to your router. I take it the box has a IP address when you check the network settings. Direct cabling is the most reliable system. Your mobile of course has to be logged in by WiFi to your router.

    Welcome to our forum.

Even if the USB upgrade process is not faulty, the fact that so many people are having problems with it surely means that Humax ought to look at redesigning or improving it in some way?

    So many are having problems?

111 downloads of 2000T software to date and only a small number of users have had problems.

Cannot see how it could be improved it is simple enough now.
