Have now completed exchanges with Humax Customer Support.

They accept that my observations regarding the Freeview HDR Fox-T2 are valid but advise:

    1. There are inconsistencies in data the broadcasters supply to the Freeview EPG meaning not all programmes are correctly identified as SD or HD.

    2. The broadcasters have chosen to encrypt everything on their HD channels, including any SD programmes. The Humax then flags all encrypted content as being HD.

    great detective work watcher

it's good to have this documented so we can all benefit from it.

Hopefully once the switch-over is completed in all areas of the UK then maybe freeview will focus on improving the quality of the data within the epg. Especially with regard to the HD channels.

In my opinion freeview should make it a requirement that each channel reaches a minimum standard of epg data in order to qualify for a broadcasting licence. This might sound a bit draconian but just think of the requirements freeview already demand from freeview digi box manufacturers before they approve the use of the freeview brand with their products (wikipedia.org/freeview/features).

Until then I'm not sure there is much else we can do?
