    Hi,

I'm new to all this - can anyone please tell me how I can copy recordings (not HD) onto either my laptop or a usb stick? Hard drive on my FVP 5000T 2T Freeview Play is getting rather full.

What cables do I need and do I need a special program on my laptop?

    Thanks

    Chrissy

If you have a USB stick or a portable USB hard drive plug it into the connector on the right side of the 5000T near the front. Even better, there is another similar connector on the rear of the machine next to, but slightly higher than, the power connector - this may work faster (?). The USB stick should not need an extra connector and any USB hard drive I've ever had comes with a suitable cable.
Be aware that many people have reported that it can take ages for just one recording to be saved

I must be the dumbest user around.

Found out that I can use my network option to transfer recorded programs on to laptop, dvd or usb. I managed to get the full list of recorded programs displayed on my laptop and that was great BUT when I have restarted the laptop and gone back into the network I can see the FVP-5000T DMR device and also FVP-5000T DMS device, but when I click onto them all I get is the properties displayed.

How can I get back to the list of recorded programs?

    Chrissy
    Hope someone can help

That will be using the DLNA server.

What works for me is in Windows Explorer click on "This PC" then scroll down to "Network locations" and you should be able to right click and select "Open".

Thank you everyone. I'm getting there slowly. Have managed to copy a few recorded programs onto a dvd, but they will not play on my dvd player. Do I need to convert the files to a different format?

Sorry I don't get any brighter!

Are these SD or HD recordings? Can you play the recordings on the computer using the free VLC player?
