In view of the fact that you mention the smallness of my USB stick. I have decided to buy a small Toshiba basic 500. It does come with a USB 3 cable!!! Will my Humax be able to use this cable?

Provided the drive is marked usb2 compatible it should work fine (virtually all portable drives are).
Very hard to find usb2 drives these days.
It's only the drive end plug that's different.

Its a Toshiba HDTB305EK3AA 500GB Canvio Basics USB 3.0 Portable and it says it is USB compatible.
Just tried to copy another file on the Humax but again nothing happens!!!!!
As it copied another file to the USB stick could there be a problem with the Humax itself?

Just had a thought. Moving or copying on the HDR-FOX (and presumably the HDR-2000T too) is different from, say a Windows PC. In Windows you navigate into the folder and select paste. With the HDR-2000T you select the destination folder from the list and press the red 'Move/ Copy' button. If you open the folder and press the red button nothing happens: on screen when you enter the folder the red button becomes pale to denote that the function is not available.
