A friend has a TIVO box which of course has 3 tuners, as far as I can tell it isn't as flexible as it might suggest. I may be wrong but the third tuner appears only to allow third viewing while recording two, which the twin tuner Humax boxes also offer in a more limited way.
I have my doubts, my guess is the box will work like the TIVO.
Actually the Tivo box can record from all three tuners whilst playing back a recording, and it is also buffering all three tuners whilst not necording on them so you can switch to one of the other tuners and rewind whether watching another live programme or after playing back a recording - I doubt we'll see anything as advanced as that on one of these Humax boxes though

I seem to remember being able to play back or simply check and view recordings and then go back to the tuner and rewind the buffer. I think they got rid of this facility with the twin tuner 9200T which was and still is a real shame as it was dead useful to be able to check things knowing that the buffer could still be accessed, nowadays the buffer's still there we just can't access it even after simple operations like portal, checking a recording or a recording starting on the same channel. losing the buffer like that for no good reason still bugs me.I'll get some sellotape (sticky back plastic) and tape three of the 8000t's together, I'll be damned if anybodys going to say a Tivo is better than my humax/s

I may be missing something here. However, apart from the third tuner my 1000s Freesat box alredy has those on-demand services.
Of course I realise that not everyone wants or is able to put a dish on their home.
I still feel that Freesat is a massively under utilised resource. Whether that's a political decision I really couldn't say. It is a real shame though.
